Our clients required a complete overhaul of this garden. It presented many challenges, one of the major ones being the shallow soil and presence of bed rock over the entire site. During clearing and excavation, remnant stone was recovered from the previous garden and was key in our new design. We continually referred to this stone for our colour palette when selecting materials as well as our plant palette, particularly on the ocean side. Plants were selected to withstand tough conditions and shallow soil. In protected areas, out of the wind and under the shade of established trees, a variety of micro climates allowed us to expand our plant species.
